Seattle International Film Festival Opening Night Gala: Judd Apatow and Michael Showalter's The Big Sick

Based on the real-life courtship: Pakistan-born comedian Kumail (Kumail Nanjiani) and grad student Emily (Zoe Kazan) fall in love, but they struggle as their cultures clash. When Emily contracts a mysterious illness, Kumail must navigate the crisis with her parents and the emotional tug-of-war between his family and his heart.

MAY 28
FESTIVAL FORUM
Gathering Your Team: a Conversation with Filmmakers Presented by SIFF and Women in Film Seattle

WHERE: Pan Pacific
WHEN: 3:45 - 5:00 PM
COST: $10
We hear the director is in control of all aspects of a film – at the same time, we hear "Filmmaking is a collaborative process." One must gather a team that provides support and expertise to take on the rewarding and challenging journey of movie making. Each crew member specializes in a specific important area for the production. How do you gather a dream team whose goal is to create together? How does the director assemble her or his team to carry out their vision?

MODERATOR: Susan LaSalle, Producer, DGA Production Manager; Susan produced the features: Ira Finkelstein's Christmas, and The Breach, a feature documentary. PANEL: TBD

Entry for all paid members of Women In Film Seattle is free; cost for guests or the general public is $6.
